Pledge to Flag/Good Sam Pledge
Introduction of Guests: Joining us are Brooks & Brenda Rimes. They are in a rental for the week end. Ed Spence’s daughter Kate will be coming to represent Operation Injured Soldiers to the group.
Motion to dispense of reading of September minutes and accept the September minutes: Terry/Ginger. All in favor and motion carried.
Correspondence: Diane received an e-mail from Carol Ellis wishing everyone the best. She will not be here this campout but hopes to see everyone next year when she is traveling again. Cathy Schulz also received an e-mail from Carol thanking her again for the quilt. She recently attended a family wedding, and showed her quilt to everyone. One of her nephews who was especially close to Butch enjoyed snuggling with it and keeping it close. They have really enjoyed the fond memories of Butch and it was wonderful that we were able to present Carol with this loving memorial of Butch.
Treasurer Report (Diana): Keith was not present, but Diana reported that the beginning balance as of August was $1,000.58. There were no deposits and no withdrawals. Predicted balance should have been $1,000.58. Statement balance is $1,052.58. We are $52.00 on the plus side that is not accounted for. Keith will continue to look for the discrepancy.
Keith has expressed that he is not interested in serving a second term as Treasurer. If anyone is interested in finishing up his term, please let Diana know.
Vice President Report (Rich Ward): Nothing to Report.
Wagon Master Report (Terry Sokol): Nothing new to report. Next year’s Campouts include May: 2017 Wood stream, June 2017 campout at Lakeside State Park. There are already 25 units reserved now. Tentative October 2017 at Genesee Country Camp Ground. We still need August and September. Committee is looking into Twilight on Erie. Not sure of Good Sam’s Rally status in July. Also FMCA Rally in August. Beaver Meadows has a non-heated pavilion. Yogi Bear (Java NY) is very affordable during the off season (after Labor Day), so possibilities to camp there in September or October.
Camp Hosts: (Deb Reumann): Need to collect $10 pp for dinner tonight. Dinner will be at 5:00 pm.
Activities: (Diana): Halloween theme this month includes pumpkin carving after the meeting, decorating of the rigs after the carving, and costume and party after dinner. Prizes will be awarded at the party. Judging volunteers include: Brooks & Brenda Rimes, Paul and Cathy Schulz and Mike DeRose.
Old Business: Nothing
New Business: Updated roster and mailing list was sent via e-mail. Jane’s e-mail address has a correction which had previously been sent out in an email. This month’s raffle is a foldable container, tote bag and matching table cloth. Money collected will go to charity.
The group discussed new/different tee shirts. Bonnie had a black shirt with our logo that she wore last month and got lots of attention. We do not all have to have the same shirts. Ginger offered to take orders for a cost of $8 if you bring your own item to be embroidered.
Membership dues are due in January. $20/unit or $10/single. Can collect in December at the Party.
Ginger asked if anyone needs/wants a name tag, please let her know. Cost is $10 paid in advance.
Jerry suggested that we have a collection for propane use for the weekend. Dick and Judy offered to pay for any propane usage this month. Thank you for your generosity.
There are no other expenses for this month.
Holiday Party: (Marge): Party is scheduled for Saturday, December 3 at Camping World from 1-4 pm. We will still be doing a $25 gift exchanged for those who are interested. Marge asked for $100 this year to supplement what Camping World provided (paper ware, coffee, pizza and wings). Mike DeRose also stated that we need people to RSVP to have an accurate number of guests attending. Last year we planned on 40 and 50 attended. We were short/ran out of pizza, wings, cheese, and pop. Last year we did not have water.
Motion to grant $150 for the party to purchase extra food/items needed was made by Bob Reumann/Mary Thomson. All in favor and motion carried.
For the Good of the Club: Three of our members have upcoming birthdays: Ginny: October 31, Jim Strickland: November 6 & Judy: November 30. Happy Birthday to all.
Motion made by Jerry/Mike Gurr to adjourn. All in favor and meeting ended at 10:10 am.
Following the meeting, Kate from Operation Injured Soldiers gave a very nice presentation. She shared that 96% of all donations go directly to Operations. They are a non-profit operation who help the soldiers with hunting, fishing and family oriented activities. Money collected in NYS stays in NYS.
Diana presented Kate with a check for $160 from WNY Sam’s from money collected at the July Rally. Dick Cox presented her with a check for $100 from Calico Sam’s that collected from their group.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The following dialog was discussed at the Halloween Party on Saturday evening. Although a formal meeting was not called I am adding this addition to the Saturday morning meeting minutes:
Discussion raised by Terri at the evening activities regarding the October 2017 campout. Many of the campgrounds close in early to mid- October limiting our choices. A motion was made that the October campout be changed to the second (Friday-Sunday) weekend of the month for October only. All in favor with no one opposed. Motion carried.
Discussion about whether or not monthly meetings are needed. A motion was made by Dick Cox /Jerry Myers to have a meeting at every campout. With everyone in favor and eight (8) opposed motion carried.
Discussion was also raised regarding a July 2017 campout in Wellsville, NY for the hot air Balloon Fest. As an alternate to the July Rally in Herkimer, NY, our Wagon Master team looked into the possibility of another camping outing for July 21-23. The nearby campground, Trout Lake will reserve 16 sites, with additional sites available if needed. A vote was taken as to how many would be interested in seeing the Balloons, and nearly everyone was willing to travel to the Fest. Terri will send information via e-mail for anyone interested.
Let it be noted that the inquiry for the Balloon Fest and the Trout Lake campground was being looked at before the problems at Herkimer this year. This was to be an alternate for anyone not wishing to attend the Rally. Is a Rally even being planned for 2017?
Minutes Respectfully Submitted,
